Marvelous, every mode sounds better than the last.
[ He's really beside himself at Declan's technology, inspired, and even envious. Though robotics and sparkcrafting is Brickston's favorite area, he's also spread his science applications out and generalized between that, alchemy, and some dabbles of medicine. Anything he can get his hands on and tinker with, but the craftsmanship right in front of him... ]
The quality in your work—it really shows. [ He sighs, airing some of his admiration aloud before rising to his legs again. Part of him is so excited seeing her he thinks of asking to borrow her for even so much as five minutes for the sake of the bingo card but draws quiet realizing he doesn't have nearly anything as impressive on hand (or so he feels) to share with Declan in kind. Maybe the sword he crafted in preparation for the new dungeon...? ]
Ah, thank you. Coming from a fellow craftsman, that means a lot.
[ Declan knows so few, his brief acquaintanceship with an eccentric toymaker and an undead weaponsmith notwithstanding. (You meet all types in Barovia.) ]
Speaking of, I would love to see something of yours, too. Come on, don't be shy!
[ Barovia and Doskvol might as well be sister cities in some ways. ]
Of mine? [ He parrots. Brickston is not an unprideful creature but he titters for a moment to think of what might even be of interest to another fellow inventor; literally everything and nothing. ]
Well... [ He falls back on the most recent thing; that sword. Since this is ON world, he materializes it with a wave of his hand and swipe of a menu selection; it's large, crafted with hands in mind that are bigger and stronger than his own. Strapped to his back the business end barely scrapes the ground but on someone taller like Declan it might fit comfortably well. He gives it a few twirls in his wrists and then spikes it (gently) in the ground. ]
Behold! [ He steps back and offers it to Declan with splayed hands. ] Butane trigger with propane-conglomerate fuel, able to reach two thousand degrees Celsius making for quick consistent fire DOT and only a two second cool-down if used as a charge-up slashing attack.
[ Declan has yet to get a real handle on the menu functions of this place, so first of all, he’s very impressed that Bricks just calls a sword out of thin air. Second of all, look at this magnificent thing.
The second Bricks jams it (gently) into the ground, Declan is practically all over it, getting as close as he reasonably can to inspect every little piece, down to the last bolt. He looks like a kid let loose in a toy store. ]
Amazing! It’s not magic? That people can make such things without it is so astounding to me.
[ He looks back up at Bricks, beaming. ]
We simply must think of a name! It deserves one, don’t you think?
No. The whole magic thing is a bit new to me. Not a medium I'm used to working in outside of here. [ He loosely nods and gestures, silently encouraging Declan to pick it up or touch it or swing it around if he so desires. People making things with magic is astounding to him. He rambles on a bit, padding the air. ] Some Whispers back home can influence the elements but that's about it... outside the realm of demonic abilities and what not.
Oh— since you're familiar with magic do you know of any... I suppose names of spells? That might be fire-like?
[ EHEHE. Since he has permission to pick the sword up, he most certainly is. He'll even attempt to swing it around a bit, though it's very clear that Declan barely understands how to wield a melee weapon. It's awkward at best, and he can't even manage that very well. If he keeps this up, he's going to pull something. (He got a 7 on his strength check, okay.) ]
Whisperers?
[ Ah, one thing at a time or they'll be here all day. ]
Fire spells— oh do I ever. Firebolt, Control Flames, Burning Hands, Fireball, Scorching Ray, Pyrotechnics, Wall of Fire, Dragon's Breath, Immolation, Fire Storm... I could go on but I hope that's sufficient?
[ Even a strength 7 can swing it around since he's built it and he also lacks in that department, but it's clear someone with more strength will be able to bring the most out of the blade. He pauses for a moment to reach in with a single finger, snapping his fingers as if holding an invisible butane lighter. A single flame emits from the tip of his finger and candles the flamethrower part. Though not native to magic, Brickston has picked up on it quickly here, resonating especially well with fire as an element.
The trigger near the handle, if pulled, will now bellow out a stream of fire just in front of the blade; a fire blade in front of the metal blade.
He considers the list of spell names with a hum. They all sound so cool...! After some deliberation, ]
A sword named Burning Hands sounds fairly appropriate, doesn't it?
[ He does stop swinging the thing around like an idiot so Bricks can ignite a bit of flame – a handy trick, he thinks, and makes a note to learn to do something similar himself – and once he’s stepped away, he does indeed pull that trigger. ]
Oh!
[ He looks positively giddy as the flame ignites, and he gives the sword another awkward swing. Someone stop him before he catches something on fire. ]
That is an appropriate name! Very evocative!! I was thinking something like… Scarlet, myself.
[ If it were not obvious, Declan likes to give his inventions People Names. ]

He squats and rests his hands on knees, awed to see up close all the clockwork parts and gears move in clicking synchrony and unfold into Adelaine. ]
Salutations lady Adelaine. I can't help but imagine how those four legs must contain what is no doubt an impressive amount of firepower recoil.
no subject
At some unspoken command, Adelaine stretches up on her legs, barrel tilted, if Bricks would like to get a look at how it's all connected. ]
They allow her to move and climb as well! I can summon her in one of three modes: flamethrower, force ballista, or protector!

...Haven't thought of a name yet, actually.
